Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
If you are praying for the rapture today, I am sorry to be the one to break it to you. You see; some things need to happen before that event. These things are what the Church is supposed to be doing right now. Regardless of your End Times beliefs this first verse is not disputed by any Christian teacher that I know of. The Gospel must be shared while the Church is on the earth. · Spread the Gospel to the whole world (Mat 24:14)
According to Joshua Project of the almost 8 billion folks in this world over 3 billion are unreached; have no access to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This needs to happen while the Church is still on the earth.
· Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Another way of saying spread the gospel, though this takes it to the next level. It is not just about sharing the Gospel then we are done. No, this is about actually making disciples, which as we have been discussing for many months now, is quite a larger proposition. Not only do they need to hear the Gospel, but they need to become disciples of Jesus Christ. That might mean, or I think it means that most folks in all the nations will believe in Him. I could be wrong but let’s look at one other verse, this might clear things up for us:
· 1 John 4:14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. · John 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
Jesus came to save this world. That means in the Greek “to save this world”
Does the world look saved to you? Since Jesus is not here on the world physically, that means that He expects His Body; the Church to carry this out. Of course not everyone will be saved, but I believe as most scholars and pretty much all Christians prior to 1830’s believed that there will come a day when this world is, for the most part, SAVED. I know you are thinking that most are not supposed to be saved:
Matthew 7:13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way that leads to life, and there are few who find it.
Meaning that most folks will not be saved; lets think about this for a moment. There are almost 8 billion on the planet today and they say that 1/3 are Christians. Going back in history we have thousands of years with most folks going to destruction, billions and billions. Even if 80% of the world was saved it would still be a far less number than the entire number of those going to hell. You see it does not negate this verse to see a possible world wide salvation, someday. it does not mean that the world keeps getting better and better, just look at China and Iran right now, not good places to be, but many are being saved in the midst of terrible circumstances; revival often happens in these terrible tribulations (the ones that believers have been going through since the 1st century)
Maybe we need to hold loosely to secondary doctrines and be more concerned with taking Christ to this world.
It seems for sure that the whole world must be at least reached with the Gospel before God can rapture the Church?
Here is an idea. Let us all work together to accomplish this. Then let the Lord do what He will.
If I am wrong and you spend the next few months (or years) helping to spread Christianity across this world. Would that have a good outcome?
