God Wants Us: Somehow He Loves Us

1 John 4:19 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. John also tells us, “In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins” 1 John 4:10 God created us because He wanted to have a relationship with us. This is the most amazing part, that the God of the universe would want me, I do not understand it. I am not truly good, nothing in me or my life is deserving of His love; It is only by His amazing Grace . In the beginning God had a close relationship with Adam and Eve walking with them in the cool of the day. God instituted this type of relationship with ancient Israel when He said, “I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people” (Leviticus 26:12) The apostle John briefly describes the nature of the relationship we are to have with God. 1 John 3:1-3 “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! . . . Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure” God wants us to have a close relationship with him, to do that we need to walk with Him like Adam and Eve did in that Garden so long ago. To live a Holy life (as much as we can). Because of Him we now have the power to do that,, we now have that power NOT to sin, moment by moment, we are no longer slaves to sin we are now slaves to righteousness. But unlike slave who are taken against their will, we willingly walk into this relationship, because we love our master, our Lord Jesus. And more than that, we become part of Gods family. He adopts us into His family: Romans 8:15: “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.” God has planned a way to make this relationship available to every human being according to His timetable. As Peter wrote: “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is long suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).
